I switched to DaVinci Resolve after 10 Years of Premiere
After using the free version of DaVinci Resolve for months and finally deciding to go all-in on the Studio version after hearing Adobe's latest user data stunt I'm saying "Sorry Premiere, it's been a good run."

The Day We Found a Trout Fishing Heaven - Grant Lake, CA

We found trout fishing heaven in September. We've been going for years but sometimes you have a day that you'll never forget. Even though it was slightly above average fishing-wise, the conditions, and the scenery get filled into a time-safe memory bottle. We already knew Grant Lake was an outdoorsman's paradise, but this spot we'd never been able to get into previously proved to be amazing. 🔺🔺...

How to Master Taking Photos in Manual Mode!! - CAMERA BASICS
Hey man :) I’m the guy you helped on Reddit to choose the perfect videography/photography setup :) I’m grateful, good luck
Happy to help! 🔥😎
This is probably one of the best videos I´ve seen from a video with only about 2k views at this point in time. Amazing storytelling and great quality! Keep it up.
@@braaten4591 I appreciate that! I’m hoping to find my groove and build a community of cool creative people who love storytelling. Thanks for watching!
Lumix S5 is relly cool camera
I came from micro 4 3 to the s5 also....😁
@@NeroMC Hard to beat for a first full frame.
give you basic functionality? I used adobe since 2012 it has been nothing but a shit show full of bugs, going behind everyone else, never making anything easier... I would if I could, but my job has me locked in.
@@SatongiFilms I agree with all of that haha! I’ve experienced 2 crashes in a month of using Resolve. I usually crash a minimum 3 times per project with Premiere. If I had to guess my lifetime Premiere crashes I’m probably in the thousands.
Today is the day I finally completely abandoned Adobe software, well with the exception of a few lesser used ones, but still pretty much done with it. When I started video editing, I had a choice between using Premiere Pro and Davinci Resolve. Back then I chose Premiere Pro because I was already using Photoshop, so it made sense. I just wish I started with Resolve back then, it would have saved me so many hours of pain, suffering and frustration. Also switched to Affinity about a month back, and it's been such a great experience. If you haven't already given that a go, do, you won't regret it. I started editing my first video in Resolve today, and I got more done in 10 mins having never even used the software than I do in Premiere in an hour. It is honestly insane. Oh and I can just dump my MKV files from OBS directly into Resolve and it just takes it, it was a 150GB 24 hour long video file too, and it loaded the thing in about 10 seconds. Now my PC isn't great or anything being about 10 years old, it has an i7 5930K and GTX 1080, and the fact that this thing runs super smoothly is awesome. In premiere, simply pressing play would cause a 3-10 second delay, or sometimes straight up crash the entire program. Haven't got to the stage of rendering with Resolve yet, but it's gotta be better than dealing with media encoder, which likes to make my PC bluescreen for absolutely no good reason at all. I am a Premiere Pro user of about 5 years, and I have hated every last second of it. The fact that I've been paying Adobe for software that barely even works is insane, and now they want to claim licences to our work, yeah I'm so done with Adobe.
Rip the UA-cam poop machine.
Resolve is a learning curve for sure but once you get it, it's amazing.
@@YankInches So far I’ve converted fairly easily with the Edit and Color pages, I think Fusion will be the big leap for me though.
Resolve and Affinity photo have also become my go tos. I absolutely LOVE the fact that Affinity put a half off sale amidst the Adobe controversy.
@@BlakeLW I’m going to have to try out Affinity. Still using Photoshop for thumbnails
Hey, somebody recommended that to me, too! I like it.
I’m buying one soon for 900. An absolute steal
I saw a guy on Reddit on the Lumix subreddit who claimed he got a second S5 as a B-cam for $725. I was like “HOW?!” Insane value for that price.
So you are basically saying I need to make tech reviews like MKBHD.
YES! Also, start a podcast like Jake Paul. Finish this up by being Mr. Beast.
much love for this content <3
Glad you enjoyed! 😊 would you believe me if I told you I produced the music for this too? 👀
Definitely a more loose format would be great just have fun with it
Yeah man - I’ve had this camera just under two years - it was a great deal at the time and is definitely delivering fantastic value for money. Not changing any time soon
Do you suggest the Helios 44-2 or Helios 44-4 for more of that swirly bokeh?
They’re about the same. I think the 44-2 might have a tiny bit more but the swirly bokeh kind of depends on the size of your sensor more, you’ll see more on a full-frame sensor. I’d say just get whichever is priced better, the 44M-4 has a slightly more modern rugged feel to it, whereas the 44-2 feels a little bit older. Can’t go wrong with either imo.
I still rock the S5 and have no plans on upgrading.
Yeah man
I genuinely NEEDED to hear this... God bless u bro
You’re welcome :) Glad you found it helpful and I hope you have a great day! 😎🤙🏻
Good stuff man!!
Panasonic, give Brendan an S5iiX😊
nowadays good to hear somebody is talking from his gear this way. like you really feel the connection with your camera. reminds me for my very first and second own cameras, a Panasonic GS500 and a Canon T2i... I didn't feel the same for long time now. Hopefully the new G9ii will give back this feeling. First step is done - the image quality.
Me too
I watched your anamorphic video not too long ago. Enjoyed those shots of the bridge a lot. 🔥
@@BrendanMiranda Thank you. 🙏
You know it’s super easy to get caught up in the details of the story. But just listening to Ratatouille’s plot in the oversimplified way like that kinda makes you realize you’re focusing on the details before you set a foundation. This video was sick man. Keep it going 🙏
Applies to songwriting too! 😎🤝🏻
Nice! If I didn’t have access to a a7s iii for work I’d have kept my S5 (and then S5 ii) for sure. I fact the prices on the S5 are now so tempted second hand 😅
In the future I suspect I’ll end up getting an S5ii once there is a good sale and then use my S5 as a B Cam.
I think I found you years ago by way of Armando....you guys still cool? Maybe do a collab?!
We haven’t caught up in a long while to be honest, but it was a blast and a great opportunity to work with him for the amount of time I did. I learned so much in that time period. Maybe we could do something again in the future. I’m getting back into this kind of content after a long hiatus and growth period. Glad to have you here 😎

“What’s up guys. Today I’m here with my friend Brendie and today we’re going to be making a song to surpass Metal gear”
It was definitely a camera for sure
Came here from your Film Booth post. I'm glad I did. It's an engaging video with great visuals, a great story, and a great voiceover. I watched to the end. Take it or leave it but two things bugged me. The subs are tiny on my phone with poor contrast. They just distracted me. Also, the music is too loud for me. You speak quickly and your voice was competing with the music. Sometimes I couldn't keep up with what you were saying. The subs aren't a big deal, but the volume of the music very nearly caused me to quit pretty early on. Anyway, you've got a lot of talent. I'll subscribe.
Thank you for the kind words and constructive criticism. I am glad you found it engaging, I thought I was going crazy because my edits usually have energy throughout. Moving forward I will watch the volume on the music (I might have accidentally raised it a few db when I put limiting on the master) and maybe scale the subtitles up a bit more if I choose to use them again. 😎👍🏻
@@BrendanMiranda I personally don't think you need the subs for this kind of content. The moment when they particularly distracted me was the striking shot of the fish around 3:05. I don't know, I'm nitpicking, but perhaps these details matter.
@@alex-on-words you are mostly 100% correct on that note, these were placed there more for aesthetic than anything. I considered removing them a few times, but overall liked the way it shifted the vibe slightly and made me focus on the voiceover more with the visuals complimenting the VO rather than the VO complimenting the visuals.
well written

Great video
Glad you liked it, fellow Lumix enjoyer. I forgot to label in the video that the shot of me in New York was shot on GH5. 😂 the footage matches up nicely to S5 when graded.
The GH5 was one of my favorite cameras all time.@BrendanMiranda
I did not know our school brought those wild cameras in. That’s kinda wild. Great video man, you’re gonna go places, I know it 🤙🏻
Yeah, the admin was pretty pissed about that I heard but I’m glad our teacher knew the value they could provide to the program. Put a lot of us way ahead of most people coming out of HS going into the trade. 😅
Now smile for the camera 😀📸🖼
🃏
We need more like this man. I love this. It's been done before, but this feels more authentic than the other's I've seen. Usually it's just between two big youtubers that collab for the sake of it, but this feels more like just two friends just hanging out and having a good time. Keep it up man, this is sick🙏

i did a video to cure this and applies also to film directors! EMPTINESS of Musical Statements : The Technique of Existential Experience (#composer)
I like that title! I write/produce music as well as make films. Being in both realms it’s very cool to see how much stuff crosses over between the two. They have a dovetail fit relationship
Just showed up, but I know that when you bring out the word "dude" that it is getting serious...I found early on how important it is for me to stay original and not follow trends. First thing I decided for me was to never beg for subscriptions, Second thing is to strive to not make a video just because I think it will "perform" that is, to build what I want to build, then just happen to film it. I want to get this right. The spirit of youtube is alive, it is just breathing hard under a pillow.
Couldn’t agree more. I’ve never really asked for subs, if I have I’ve made it clear that they don’t have to if I didn’t provide any value. I am the type of person that doesn’t hand out subs like candy so I definitely understand if other people are also choosy with who they sub to. Thanks for watching. 🤙🏻😎
true (it makes so much money so i do it)
Does it though? (I’ve made $50 my entire 8 years doing UA-cam, and have posted since before monetization was even a thing)
@@BrendanMiranda you have to move a certain kind of way to make money, tiktok for example is extremely profitable and so are most short content platforms. it can be a bit unpleasant to condense and strip down your craft to such a degree, but it is the most effective way to make money with it. 3 one minute clips a day will make much more money than a well thought out 10 minute video, not even counting sponsorships and ads additional to just having a good view count and engagement

The Lexus part really hit home... almost felt attacked lol
I cut out the part where I said “the Lexus is a beast in the canyons… shoutout David“ cause I didn’t want to come onto you too strong lol 😂
I swear to God I’ve made the best tones I’ve ever made using a 8 year old amp sim. New stuff is good and all but the way they make you feel like you’re missing out is really unfortunate. It’s sad to see that happens with cameras too man…
They definitely capitalize on F.O.M.O. and to top it off they hire pros to advertise it so you think their success is going to become your success haha
@@BrendanMiranda it’s almost believable until you remember they got where they are all these years without using the new plugins they shill lmao
